The eight edition of Swedish Rental Kart Championship is finished with success. Mini- and Junior-category was dominated by a trio of Polish drivers; Ziemowit, Franek Dobke and Tomek Bernadowski. When Sweden suffered with forest fire in 2018, we got help from Polish firefighters. This time Poland brought fire to SRKC and your racing was so impressive and hot that the snow/ice melted in Gothenburg. Werra came out on top in both categories after some hard but fair fights with his countrymen. Noel Sundberg (Mini) and Junior Jonsson (Junior) were the best Swedish drivers on a 4th place. Noticeable is that both Sundberg and Jonsson aren´t local drivers.
In the Masters category, Erkin Bour defended his title with Christian Jessen (masters champion 2020) on second place. Both drivers impressed in their semis and qualified for the final. Local driver, Stefan Bodin completed the podium with a great performance during Saturdays qualification rounds just 0,5p before two other local Masters.
Overall category with 56 drivers on the start list from seven different nations was the main event and we experienced some fantastic racing. After the five qualification rounds, Nikolaj Marsengo, Ruben Boutens and Axel Mattson were the top three drivers. All three won their semifinals and their first duel in the final qualification. Marsengo and Boutens got head to head in the fight for the pole position which were decisive for the championship. Marsengo got pole and the right to choose kart. The start of the final was dramatic and Mattson overtook Boutens but some laps later they switched positions again which Marsengo took advantage of and he had full control of the final race all the way to the finish flag.
Congrats to the winners and thank you to all drivers for making SRKC 2022 the best rental kart event in Swedish history. Also thanks to Gokartcentralen for once again being a great hosting track. You guys are amazing! I´m of course also grateful for our partners/sponsors: KWC, BNC, PIKC, Nyman Racing and Zolar Tech.
